Was freezing up, now works

Like others have said, the game consistently freezes on the first obstacle course. Ive tried uninstalling and redownloading the program and it still crashes. Dont buy it until this issue is resolved. UPDATE After the Lion update (10.7.2) the game has become stable. Im running it on an 09 MBP with 256mb of vram with the lowest settings and the game seems to lag a little in graphic intense areas and most notably around water. Even with the lag it is playable and a very enjoyable game. My only gripe is that the game has no auto save on exit which can be frustrating if you forget and lose your progress.

Love It

Pyschonauts is hands down my favorite game so I was very excited when I saw that double fine has re-released it through the app store (and steam, which you also receive a copy of when you purchase it). The most notable part of this game has to be the uniqueness of it. I can guarantee that youve never played anything like it before. It also has a great look and feel to it accompanied perfectly with a great sound track and voice acting. Along with all of that is the unforgettable sense of humor this game has. Give this game a shot, you wont regret it!

Love this game

Its hilarious and has a great storyline

Youre missing out if you dont already own this game.

I have played several games from the App Store and this one is BY FAR the best one! The quality is top notch and the price cannot be beat. I would have gladly paid more money for this game. Just to give you a sense of how long it is, I am not even close to finishing it and I have been playing for well over four hours. If you are into adventure based games with light RPG elements, good writing and quality execution, look no futher. Seriously, you will not regret buying this game! To address concerns from previous version reviews, I have a year-old macbook pro (not upgraded to Lion yet) and have not experienced any of the problems that previous reviews have mentioned. The only complaint I have about this game is that it really heats up my macbook and the fans are on full force the whole time Im playing. Other than that I have nothing but praise, and I hope they come out with a sequel.

Great story, amazing art, beautiful experience

This is one of those games that transcends categories, blurs genres and defies simple description. The gameplay its self is accessable, simple enough to get you playing quickly, but with enough complexity and inventiveness to keep you interested for the long haul. The place this game really shines is in its story and art. Every single character has their own individual traits and tics (even the incidental characters that dont directly relate to the plot), the story is beautifully surreal, and the various environments within the game are mind-bendingly innovative. I found myself treating this game like a compelling novel; I just needed to see what would happen next, what wonderful weirdness the next twist in the plot would bring. This game is totally worth it!

A beautiful and strange experience

This game run quite well on macbook pro 13, just some tiny lags when you get on a new area. The story is adorable, the character design awesome and the level design….OMG. For less than 10$, it totally worth it. This game is, to my mind, a masterpiece.

Wonderful!

Im a fan of Richard Horvitz and I was surprised he was in this. Great game, with awesome graphics, music, gameplay, etc.

Great but....

It would be fun... but whenever you jump or hit something it opens the backpack, this makes play really choppy.

One of the best platformer/adventure titles no one really played.

Easily one of the best games no one really played. Like all Tim Schaffer games, this was absolutely fantastic, but just never got enough attention from consumers. Brilliantly immaginative, absolutely hysterical, and flat out original. I clocked in about a good 15 hours or more into this game - I would say 9.99 is well worth it for this!!! GET IT!

No controller support?

I bought this game with high hopes to be able to play with the dualshock 3 controller, but I cannot find in the game anywhere where I can set the duackshock as my gamepad… Play this game with keyboard is terrible.

One of the Best Games of All Time

This is by far my favorite game of all time. The entire concept is one of the most original Ive ever seen in a game before, and the dialogue is so witty and hilarious Ive spent several hours just wandering the campsite to talk to the characters. The levels are incredibly creative and none of them are like the others; youll go from being a godzilla-esque monster in a city full of lungfish to wandering a suburban neighborhood in the mind of a schizophrenic milkman. Theres a lot to explore and a lot to collect so be sure you walk around camp in between levels and talk to everyone to get the full experience; theres a lot of really awesome and funny things going on around camp that arent essential to the plot but make the game a whole lot more awesome.

Most creative/funny/artistic/well written game EVER!

I loved this game on PS2 "back in the day"…. SO excited to replay it again in glorious high resolution on my mac. Just as good as I rememberd it! Its funny how awful the cutscenes look compared to the realtime graphics! I guess a lot changes in 10 years... Great game! Buy it now! :EDIT: Just finished the game… If I could give it six stars I would... It is unrelentingly awesome from beginning to end! Tim Schafer is a mad genious! In the ten years since this game came out it still plays better than "modern" games despite the huge advances in technology. Psychonauts 2 pleeeeez!

Surprised

I never played or heard of this game before I purchased it. After several hours of running around in amazement at the graphics, I started to realize just how big, and fun, the Psychonauts world is. I highly recommend this game to pretty much anyone. Psychonauts for Mac doesnt appear to support the X-Box controller. It supports the Logitech F710 gamepad flawlessly though. The F710 gamepad shows up as a Rumblepad II controller, so I suspect it means the Rumblepad II controller is supported as well. Play Psychonauts: its a blast.

horrible controls

i like playing it with th xbox than here want a refund

FIXED

Changed to 3 stars, because theyve fixed the download problem. Will adjust the rating after Ive played for a bit.

"well worth the wait"

I purchased this app Jan. 30th and immediately discovered trouble with the install. I went to the support site and saw that many other Mac users had the same problem. After days turned into weeks, I started to wonder whether the bug would ever be fixed. However, it has now been fixed, and within minutes I realized this game was well worth the wait, and even more worth the $10 price. Psychonauts reminds me of a more complex and entertaining version of Ratchet and Clank or Jak and Daxter. Adventurists, welcome to the greatest adventure available in the app store. -Runs perfectly on my 2012 MacBook Pro

AMAZING

I played this game for the last 3 months and i enjoyed every second of the game. I can not wait for the next version

Finally installs!!

I was having download issues like lots of folks but now thats fixed I can finally enjoy this game!! For 10 dollars its a real steal!

One of my favorite games of all time

This game has witty dialogue, amazing art, and a unique storyline to boot. It kept me entertained the whole way through, and I highly recommend it :)

Amazing, Best Game on my Mac so Far!

This game is brilliant. I bought it with mix feelings because so far a lot of the games Ive been finding did not have much of a story to them, something I like in games. When I first started the game it took me a while to set all the controls on how to move the character and the characters actions, but after that the flow of control was easy. The story and concept is very creative and interesting. The game as others have said is easy to get the flow down, however as you go further things start to get a little more difficult, not only testing the characters mind, but your own mind. Fortunately the character is equipped with a helpful guide if needed to be used. A few things I have to complain about is after you get to a certain point and you want to complete the game to its fullest, the camp turns to night and it stays like that. I really hope a sequel gets made to this because the story is left at a cliff hanger. Definately worth the price and you wont be sorry!
